NEW WATER SOFTENER IN LARSEN, WI

NEW WATER SOFTENER IN LARSEN, WI NEW WATER SOFTENER IN LARSEN, WI

Mr. and Mrs. S. found their existing water softener was leaking and had some concern over it's functionality. After a service call was set up, our technician found that the softener was unable to soften any longer and had reached the end of it's lifespan. Next step was to see what water softener would take it's place, and we found that the EVRS was the best piece of equipment due to hardness being the biggest concern. Mr. and Mrs. S. now have a fully functioning water softener that is providing soft water and not leaving puddles in their basement.

A customer of ours was having issues with her distiller leaking and not working as it should. Mrs. L. was concerned because there is arsenic in her water and did not want her newborn or her family drinking the water. Mrs. L. had our service team take a look at the distiller, they recommended to replace it rather than fixing it. With distillers no longer being used anymore we recommended our Ultro flow R.O. system. Mrs. L. is now very happy they can drink the water without having to worry!

The new homeowners of this Larsen home during inspection found higher levels of nitrates present and needed some remediation before closing. We were able to help them with a state-certified reverse osmosis system that supplied them with safe water available for consumption. After closing, they questioned the quality of the existing softener, so we followed up and did some testing. It was found that the existing water softener was not functioning properly, and due to its age, a replacement made the most sense. Taking all factors into consideration, the EVR model was the best option for the family. The EVR has an optional Maintenance Plan that provides annual service, salt delivery and more; this is what the family wanted because it was one less thing for them to worry about in the new home. They now have a new, fully functional water softener, and a drinking system that allows them to feel safe in regards to consumption.

Where does Larsen’s drinking water come from?

According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, about 66% of Wisconsin residents get their drinking water from groundwater, and the other 33% source it from Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, or Lake Winnebago. The local government reports that about 4 in 10 people get their drinking water from private wells.

Owners of private wells are responsible for monitoring their private wells to ensure they are safe to drink from. Nitrates and arsenic, for example, are common, naturally occurring contaminants in Wisconsin soil and are often found in private well water. In Outagamie County, for example, the percentage of private wells that tested over the safe level of arsenic in drinking water was nearly four times the percentage of private wells overall in Wisconsin. However, Outagamie County reported lower numbers of unsafe nitrate levels in private wells compared to Wisconsin overall.

The Importance of Filtering Your Water

How unsafe is unfiltered water?

Proper water filtration is essential for maintaining a safe source of drinking water. Even water that is not for consumption (animal or human) should be free of harmful contaminants that can affect our lives in other ways. Water for showering, washing your clothes, nourishing your pets, and even watering your plants should be healthy. Water can be considered “dirty” due to chemical pollutants and disease-causing microbes.

There are several short-term and long-term risks associated with drinking contaminated water. Exposure to chemicals in water can result in skin discoloration or, eventually, damage to the nervous system or organs. Ingesting water with disease-causing microbes is relatively rare in the United States nowadays because of advanced water filtration practices, but that used to be a common spreader of infectious diseases, including typhoid fever and cholera. There are parts of the world where these diseases still run rampant because of inadequate or tainted drinking water supplies.

Common Sources of Drinking Water Contamination:

  • Industry & agriculture— Rainfall and water runoff can carry fertilizer and pesticides into the water system. Storage facilities for these compounds can also spread contaminants through rainfall and water runoff.
  • Human & animal waste— Sewage and septic systems can spread harmful microbes into drinking water systems. Common contaminants found in these scenarios include E.coli and Giardia.
  • Treatment & distribution— Some treatments meant to clean the water can leave behind harmful chemicals such as trihalomethanes. Flaws in the water system, such as broken or rusty pipes, can also contribute to contamination.
  • Natural sources— Groundwater can pass through soil and bedrock that is contaminated with natural arsenic, heavy metals, or radioactive compounds such as radon.

Job Stories From Larsen, WI
High Water Bill in Larsen, WI

We had a customer that reached out to us because they received a high water bill from the city and was told the water softener was the issue. The softener in place was older and we recommended looking into a replacement for the best option. We sent out a project coordinator to see what we could do. After arriving we found the unit was just running to drain constantly and this was causing the high water bill. After going over some new softener options the customer went with the ES water softener. After a nice and clean install the customer is happy to have a working softener and not having a high water bill!

Service a Sulfur Filter - Larsen WI

Clint called us with concerns that his sulfur filter (EVS-1354) may not be working properly. We scheduled a date and time for Randy our service manager to take a look. Upon arrival Randy tested the water and found that the sulfur filter was removing all of the smell from the water. However, we did find that the time of day on the unit was off, which could be resulting in the homeowner using water when the sulfur filter is in regeneration (when the filter is being bypassed). Randy reset the time of day and made sure the softener and filter were operating properly.
